We do not know his parents but he was a nephew of the Edward Lees, who was head of the GPO.
His obituary was in the Cork Examiner on 3 Dec 1862. "November 30, at his residence, Merville, Clontarf, of congestion of the brain and paralysis, Edward Lees, Esq., Chief Clerk of the Head Police Office, Dublin, Castle.
Griffiths Valuationi 1848-64 shows an Edward Lees residing in the parish of Monkstown at Bullock Bayview Cottage.This Edward Lees is likely to be the same person as the Edward Lees who married Mary Harriet Western.
1845 birth notice, Lees, Edward Esq. on the 28th ult in Stephens Green West, the lady of Edward Lees, Esq of a son.
